If the student obtains a loan to pay for an educational program, the student will have the responsibility to repay the full amount of the loan plus interest, less the amount of any refund.
If the student is eligible for a loan guaranteed by the federal or state government and the student defaults on the loan, both of the following may occur:
1. The federal or state government or a loan guarantee agency may take action against the student, including applying any income tax refund to which the person is entitled to reduce the balance owed on the loan.
2. The student may not be eligible for any other federal student financial aid at another institution or other government assistance until the loan is repaid.
If a student obtains a loan to pay for an educational program, the student will have the responsibility to repay the full amount of the loan plus interest, less the amount of any refund, and that, if the student has received federal student financial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of the moneys not paid from federal student financial aid program funds.
Disbursement & Credit Balance Refunds
Financial aid is generally disbursed to 10-15 days from the term start date. For financial aid to disburse, students must be enrolled half-time (Fall/Spring: 4.5 units, Summer: 2 units). Upon disbursement, most financial aid awards will automatically apply to term-based fees.
If Title IV disbursements to a student’s account create a Title IV credit balance, Lincoln will issue a credit balance. Credit balance disbursements will be made available via paper check for pick up at Lincoln Law School of Sacramento or mailed via USPS to the student’s home address in Populi within 14 days after:
- the first day of class of a payment period if the credit balance occurred on or before that day, or
- the balance occurred if that was after the first day of class.
In-School Deferment
Students enrolled at least half-time in the J.D. program are placed in an in-school deferment on eligible federal student loans automatically. Students not receiving federal student aid who would like to request for an in-school deferment for undergraduate loans, can do so by completing the In-School Deferment Request.

The student has the right to cancel the Enrollment Agreement and obtain a refund of charges paid through attendance at the first class session, or the seventh business day after enrollment, whichever is later. The seventh business day after enrollment is the date that is the seventh business day after the Enrollment Agreement is fully executed. The institution shall refund 100 percent of the amount paid for institutional charges, less a reasonable deposit or application fee not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250), if notice of cancellation is made through attendance at the first class session, or the seventh business day after enrollment, whichever is later.

Cancellation is effective on the date written notice of cancellation is sent to the school mailing address at 3140 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95816 or on the date the school’s online withdraw form is submitted. If the student has received federal student financial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of monies not paid from federal student financial aid program funds. The institution shall issue a refund for unearned institutional charges if the student cancels an enrollment agreement or withdraws during a period of attendance in accordance with the refund policy. The institution shall pay or credit refunds within 30 days of a student’s cancellation or withdrawal.
The refund policy is applicable to students who completed 60 percent or less of the period of attendance. If the student is entitled to a refund, then the refund is a pro rata refund of the unearned institutional charges.
The amount of the refund owed to the student equals the total charges paid by the student, minus the daily tuition charge for the program (total institutional charge minus any non-refundable charges, divided by the number of days in the program), multiplied by the number of days the student attended prior to withdrawal, and minus any non-refundable charges. Any days prior to the student’s last day of attendance for which the student was scheduled to attend but was absent shall be included in the calculation of days attended.

Return of Title IV Aid
Federal regulations require Title IV financial aid funds to be awarded under the assumption that a student will attend Lincoln Law School of Sacramento for the entire period in which federal assistance was awarded. When a student withdraws from all courses for any reason, including medical withdrawals, they may no longer be eligible for the full amount of Title IV funds that they were originally scheduled to receive. The return of funds is based upon the premise that students earn their financial aid in proportion to the amount of time they are enrolled.
Calculation of Earned Title IV Assistance
The amount of Title IV assistance earned by the student is calculated by determining the percentage of loan assistance earned by the student and applying that percentage to the total amount of loan assistance disbursed to the student or on the student’s behalf for the payment period, as of their withdrawal date. The percentage of Title IV assistance earned will be equal to the percentage of the payment period completed by the student, when said percentage is less than 60 percent. If the student’s withdrawal date occurs after the completion of 60 percent of the payment period, the percentage earned is 100 percent.
Post-Withdrawal Return of Funds and Disbursements
Lincoln will return any unearned Title IV funds that it is responsible for within 45 days of the date the school determined the student withdrew and offer any post-withdrawal disbursement of loan funds within 30 days of that date.
